Algarve | Portugal's Southern Paradise
Our trip to Algarve, Portugal was a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Despite staying there for just three days, we managed to explore some of the region's natural beauty, hike through picturesque landscapes, and discover secluded spots that felt like our own private beach.
Odeceixe
The contrast of the jagged cliffs against the clear blue sea made for a breathtaking view. We explored the area and stumbled upon a secluded spot on the beach that was perfect spot to unwind.
As we admired the beach, time seemed to slow down as the beautiful sun set. The sky was a beautiful blend of oranges, pinks, and yellows, and the sun slowly dipped below the horizon, leaving behind a calm and peaceful evening.
After spending the afternoon admiring the incredible natural beauty of Odeceixe, we enjoyed a delicious meal of fresh seafood that was cooked to perfection. From the succulent prawns to the juicy clams, every bite was an explosion of flavour. We also tried local delicacies like grilled octopus, clams in garlic sauce, and baked fish with potatoes. The Portuguese really do know how to make seafood dishes!
Lagos Farol da Ponta da Piedade
Praia de Benagil
Our next stop was the Benagil Beach, where we were supposed to explore the iconic Benagil Cave. Unfortunately, it was too windy for the boats to operate, due to safety concerns. The entrance to the cave was also inaccessible due to the rough waves, leaving us feeling disappointed but we decided to explore other nearby locations. We drove to a nearby town and discovered more breathtaking views.
Praia da Marinha to Praia de Nossa Senhora da Rocha
We opted to trek alongside the shore of Praia da Marinha. The views were breathtaking, with rugged cliffs and turquoise waters stretching as far as the eye could see. As we trekked through the scenic path, we came across various coves and beaches, each with its own unique charm.
Along the way, the real highlight of our trip was discovering a secluded beach that felt like it was meant just for us. We stumbled upon it while hiking to Praia de Nossa Senhora da Rocha.
After a long trek under the sun, and since the waves calmed down, we plunged into the clear blue waters. We were the only ones there, which made the experience even more special. We relaxed on the pristine sands, and basked in the sun's warmth, feeling grateful for having found such a serene spot.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, yet adventurous holiday. Just make sure to venture off the beaten path and discover some of the region's hidden gems, like our own private beach.
Praia da Prianha
To our delight, this golden sand beach was adorned with an abundance of seashells scattered along the shore. We couldn't resist the allure of the shells and eagerly began collecting them as souvenirs. The shells' varied shapes, sizes, and colours were simply fascinating.
Praia do Ferta
Our attention was soon drawn to a family of seagulls perched near the edge of the cliff. Two fluffy chicks accompanied their parents, hopping around with a sense of curiosity and playfulness. The fierce wind added an element of excitement to their presence, as their feathers ruffled.
We reluctantly left the captivating coastline of Algarve, with its windswept beaches and charming seagull family. We carried with us not only the shells we had gathered but also memories.
Our last day in Algarve may have been marked by wind and clouds, but it was a day of unexpected beauty and the joy of immersing ourselves in the wonders of nature.
