From Morocco to Porto

Completing a journey is often bittersweet, but the conclusion of our Moroccan adventure was nothing short of perfection as we chose Porto as our final destination. The absence of direct flights between Malta and Morocco, led us once again to the vibrant Portuguese city, where an eagerly awaited reunion with dear friends awaited. This unexpected twist transformed our concluding moments into cherished memories, allowing us to soak up the enchanting atmosphere of Porto while basking in the warmth of friendship.

We reunited with our friends after they had an incredible week-long road trip around Portugal was undeniably magnetic. Our decision to rendezvous in Porto served as a fitting bridge between the vibrancy of Morocco and the coastal charm of Portugal. As we embraced our dear friends, it felt as though time had stood still, and the adventures we'd shared were just yesterday's stories. Laughter echoed through Porto's cobbled streets and the city's picturesque backdrop set the scene for our joyful reunion.

One of the things that makes Porto so special is its distinctive architecture. The city is known for its ornate azulejo tiles, which adorn many of the buildings' facades. These tiles come in a range of colours and patterns, from bold geometric designs to intricate floral motifs. As you stroll through the streets, take your time to admire the tiles and appreciate the artistry that went into creating them.

Of course, Porto is also famous for its wine. The city is home to numerous port wine cellars, many of which offer tours and tastings. As you walk along the riverfront, you'll see signs for these cellars and may even catch a glimpse of the boats that transport the wine up the Douro River. And if you're a fan of seafood, Porto is known for its fresh fish and seafood dishes, many of which are available at the city's many restaurants and cafes.

The moments we spent in Porto with our friends were nothing short of awesomeness. Together, we explored Porto's historic neighbourhoods, indulged in delectable Portuguese cuisine (and loads of Pastel de nata!), and shared stories that spanned cultures.

The best thing about walking in Porto is simply taking in the atmosphere. The city is lively and bustling, with street performers, musicians, and artists on every corner.

And as we wandered through the winding streets, we discovered hidden alleys, quiet courtyards, and stunning viewpoints that offer sweeping vistas of the city and the river below.

As the sun set over the Douro River, our conversations flowed effortlessly, and the beauty of the moment was imprinted in our hearts. These shared experiences brought a deeper sense of connection.

Every stroll, laughter and Pastel de nata along the Douro River, and every sip of Port wine under starlit skies, our memories grew richer. It was a reminder that sometimes the most extraordinary experiences are born from the most unconventional paths.

We carried with us the lasting memories of our Porto finale – a symphony of friendship, laughter, and the uncharted beauty of unexpected journeys.
